Almost a month ago I took a leap of faith and boarded a plane to Sivananda Yoga Retreat Center. Well, maybe not so much a leap, my teacher would be there and it was in the Bahamas. It was time for me to refill my well. Five days at the Ashram offered me the time to practice, meditate and chant. Days began at 5:30 with the ring of the temple bell. Two delicious vegetarian meals were served daily all prepared at the Ashram.  I was close enough to the kitchen to smell the scrumptious aromas as the joyous kitchen staff prepared meals yet my room windows faced the Caribbean Sea. This was a gift to myself and my students. Practice was offered twice daily and I attended a special class with seven other beautiful souls from around the country. Loving kindness was the mantra of the week and was practiced by all who were at the ashram. 

Feeling recharged and refreshed helps me to bring new ideas and a clean slate to my practice and to my teaching. It was wonderful to be the student again. To listen and to be guided to be fed in many ways. Do make the time in your schedule to give yourself this break. It can be a daily walk, a workshop of any sort really - just something that brings you joy and can transport you away from the daily routine. Breath deep and love yourself- you are your own best friend!
